Intellectual Games Alliance 

 

The Intellectual Games Alliance comprises NUS Intellectual Games Club (IGC), Bridge Team, International Chess (IChess) Team and Weiqi Team.

 

Objectives

1. To cooperate and support one another on common issues.

2. To cooperate to organize intra-school and inter-school competitions.

3. To retain intermediate and advanced player who are not able to enroll in Bridge Team, IChess Team and Weiqi Team due to limited quota.

4. Trainings: Every Tue & Fri

5. Coach: Every Thu

3. Lifetime Membership Fee: $10

4. Trainings: Every Tue

5. Coach: NIL

 

Specific Mutual Agreements

 

Matriculation Fair

1. Propose to the organizing committee together as 4 clubs to make IGC the last booth at the Sports Club section and Bridge Team, IChess Team and Weiqi Team the first 3 booths at the IVP section. This will make all 4 booths adjacent/close to one another.

2.  Bridge Team, IChess Team and Weiqi Team will display Bridge, IChess and Weiqi respectively at their booth while IGC will display Chinese Chess and Reversi.

3. A flyer containing all 5 games will be designed by IGC and be distributed in all 4 booths so no separate flyers are needed. The cost of photocopying the flyers will be covered by IGC. The distribution of the flyers will be as follows: IGC (700), Bridge Team (500), IChess Team (400), Weiqi Team (400). Total estimated cost will be $30.

4. Registration will be through an online form from www.nusigc.com, which will be exported automatically to a spreadsheet, to be consolidated by IGC.

5. Each club will provide 1 laptop for registration at individual booth.

6. If any club is unable to send at least 2 members to take care of individual booth daily, IGC will provide the additional manpower support needed but this will have to be pre-arranged a week before the Matriculation Fair.

 

Welcome Tea and Selection Test

1. Only 1 Welcome Tea will be held jointly by 4 clubs.

2. IGC Chairperson will introduce all 4 clubs. At least 1 exco representative, preferably the Captain, for Bridge Team, IChess Team and Weiqi Team should be present so that IGC Chairperson can introduce them to the prospective members and later on be able to answer some of the queries brought up by them regarding their clubs.

3. All new members will register under IGC for a lifetime membership fee of $10. As there is additional membership fee for Bridge Team, for those new members who are later confirmed as Bridge Team players, IGC will pay $10 for each of them to Bridge Team on their behalf. In that way, no one will pay membership fee twice.

4. Selection test will continue to be conducted by the respective teams on separate days and the dates will be announced during the Welcome Tea.

5. IGC will have catering for 150 people for Welcome Tea and the cost will be covered entirely by IGC. Estimated Cost is about $500.

 

Organization of Intra-School and Inter-School Competition

1. For organization of Intra-School Competitions such as Inter-Faculty Games, Inter-Hall Games and NUS Intellectual Games Championship, IGC will organize jointly with respective teams. Respective teams will need to provide at least 1 liaison officer, a referee and additional equipment if necessary. The planning and other implementation details will be done by IGC.

2. For organization of Inter-School Competitions such as NUS Chess Invitational, IGC will organize jointly with respective teams. Respective teams will need to provide at least 1 liaison officer and additional equipment if necessary. The planning and other implementation details will be done by IGC. In addition, respective teams will also send in at least 1 team to participate in the competition.

 

Trainings and Competitions

1. The training equipment for Weiqi and Bridge will be shared between the respective team and IGC while that of IChess will be separated. The equipment will continue to be kept in individual clubs’ cabinets. Any additional purchase of equipment for Bridge will be shared equally between Bridge Team and IGC.

3. Competition subsidies will be done by respective clubs.

 

Website

1. IGC will provide external links to the respective teams’ websites under the menu “Helpful Links”.

2. Upon request, an account can be created for the respective team should they want to publish articles in the IGC website instead of their external website.
